Crossbow Hunting With Steve

I decided to go crossbow hunting, or as some would say shopping, the other day. I needed, well, name it, the whole nine yards. I needed a crossbow, crossbow scope, bolts (or arrows), targets, bowhunting broadheads, quiver and everything an archer needs beginner might need. I say beginner because I am essentially a beginner. I checked all the equipment including crossbows, scopes, bolts and spikes, targets and quivers.

On the way back from the store, I concluded that budget-wise, I should definitely get one. Crossbows ranged from $250 to $1,500. I’m sure you could spend more. If I have to do it, I’m going to do it right and that means reach. Scopes can range from $99 to $2,500 and up. Some of them let you see in the dark and everything. How cool is that. Then come the arrows or bolts in the case of crossbows. Aluminum is the best value for money. Then you need practice arrowheads and hunting arrowheads with broad tips. These can cost $100 for a few of each. Then you have targets to train with, $50 more. This new hobby is not cheap. But it doesn’t have to cost 2 or 3K to start. If I had a cheap bow and scope, arrows, points, and targets, I could be on the range for about $5 or $600. Not bad. Then when I get better, I can upgrade. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
